Coaching

The Surrey Ladies' County Golf Association aims to promote and develop golf for women and girls across the county. Over the last few years the coaching programme that the SLCGA has provided has focused on improving the standard of golf across the county, particularly for junior players. The aims of the programme are to help players increase their skills in all areas of the game whilst having lots of fun along the way. 1: County Academy Programme

For players aged 18 and under.

Monthly sessions held between March and October. Focus will be on developing a player's golfing skills and knowledge. Each session will have a key theme to be addressed, for example direction, strike, distance, speed and strength. The programme will complement any individual coaching a player is having, and there will be a strong emphasis on communication between player, parent, home coach and county coach. The programme will seek to develop a community of players, mixing ages and abilities wherever possible.

(1a) Junior Squad Coaching

For younger players or those new to golf to support their golfing development. Sessions will be linked to SLCGA playing days and focus on skill development. Aim to offer 6-8 sessions during the playing season.

2: Elite Programme

Focus is on developing teams for county events in 2014.

Players with the potential to reach 1st Team standard (in the following year) will be invited to participate.

Winter squad sessions with the focus on short game development and team dynamics. Late winter / Spring matches developing scoring and tactical play. County Teams to be announced in late Spring.

3: Self-Funded Programme

Access to all female golfers in the county. These sessions will cover all aspects of golf according to demand. These sessions will be entirely self-funded.

Team Preparation

1st Team: From April onwards sessions will be planned to help the county 1st Team prepare for county week.

2nd Team: Once the 1st Team has been selected, the 2nd team will be announced.
